Hunt offered the show’s phone lines and asked whether McConnell would be willing to call in, a request Jennings deflected with a joke about being a "long time listener, first time caller." McConnell, 84, was admitted to the hospital on June 14; his office released a statement saying he is "receiving excellent care," is improving and is working with staff while the Senate is out of session. Reports about the specifics of his condition remain unclear, and conservative activist Laura Loomer posted an unverified claim that McConnell was "officially brain dead," which McConnell’s office has not confirmed.
