Zia Yusuf clashes with Nick Robinson on Radio 4 Today
Zia Yusuf claims Farage is bravely "bringing forward" the judgment of "the ultimate authority": the people of Clacton. Two problems here: 1) He's insisting they judge *before* the full evidence has been heard, not *after*; 2) No constituency can exempt its MP from rules designed to protect us all
3) The only person standing against him is a man with a bin on his head. So it isn't really Nige vs the Establishment, it's just Nige wasting everyone's time. (Unless the best outcome, Count Binface beats him & we all laugh for ever, occurs.)
If you take a step back, the idea that people accused of an offence should be judged not by courts or properly constituted investigators but by "the people" is truly horrifying.
By this logic, if we get caught red handed crimming (any crime of your choice), all we have to do is to get people in our town to vote that the law is not applicable. How does that work?
Replace juries with Clacton voters
Reform has decided to attack & be aggressive & shouty. She needed to press the point that if Farage had done nothing wrong & he was sure he'd be cleared then why go for an election. This loud, hectoring, in your face style will be counter productive for Reform. It might work for Trump but not here.
He’s trying to play Clacton people for suckers a second time, he succeeded once before, he reckons he can do it again. Let’s hope they’ve wised up to his con.
Yusuf’s angle here is pure fascism. The volk as arbiter of everything.
@libdemdaisy.bsky.social in #PMQs says Farage v Count Binface "it's a 2 horse race!"🤣 She remembers when Farage mantra was "Leave means Leave"🤣 She makes serious point too calling for the by-election to be delayed until *after* Standards investigation so the Clacton constituency are fully informed.
A perfect summary of the Farage farce.
I assumed the 'ultimate authority' is God but Yusuf seems to think it's people who have never seen Fartrage. Mind you they have probably also never seen God. Yusuf is just the Reform tea boy
They’re all fucking high. It’s the only explaination.
There’s also the strong suspicion that Farage is trying to get ahead not just of the outcome of the investigation, but of further, even more damaging revelations.
Zia Yusuf - shoved out to make a fool of himself for Farage - insists on #r4today that the people are the ultimate authority and that they should decide on an MP’s wrongdoing, not any regulatory body or the courts. It would seem the people don’t agree with him on that.
Also, how can the people of Clacton judge any element of this until all of the reports and investigations into his conduct are concluded and the reports published in full? Facts matter. And the lying little shite can’t get any of his stories straight so far…
It’s much better if you let the ‘people’ decide as you can just lie to them about what you’ve done and you don’t have show them irritating things like evidence.
I just caught him saying “he’s not trying to evade” (then switched channels). That’s exactly what he’s trying to do ! Supreme gaslighting. Following the Trump playbook.
34% don’t know .. what .. have they got heat stroke Wake the fuck up 🤬
It seems only fair to have your supporters decide if you are guilty or not. We could introduce it in courts and have a jury madeup of the defendants family.
Funny how all these "law and order" types want to avoid law and order when it is they who are under scrutiny for allegedly breaking the law and order! 🤔
BBC radio 4 Today, Nick Robinson roasts Yusuf & Farage “You say this is all about standing up to the establishment. “You’re a multi-millionaire. You made your money selling luxury helicopter charters and rare wines to the super-wealthy. www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/nick-r...
“Nigel Farage is a public schoolboy, a former commodities trader who gets £5m gifts from his friends and lives in a five-storey house next to Buckingham Palace courtesy of a man convicted of fraud”
The head of Reform in Scotland is Malcolm Offord, aka Baron Offord of Garvel, Commander of the Royal Victorian Empire. Offord is a self-proclaimed owner of 6 homes, 6 boats and 5 cars. He was complaining about "the establishment" this morning. I think my irony meter has broken (again).
The fact that the BBC who have been explicitly complicit in Farage's easy ride from the media for the last 15+ years are now growing a pair just illustrates what a shitty hole Farage is now in....
Once we have chased another cat from our garden, our own cat will chase after it pretending to have done the deed herself, now that it's safe. I am reminded of this with Nick Robinson finally attacking Farage.
What has caused the change? 20 yrs+ of cheerleading for the Nicotine-Stained Nazi and suddenly, Robinson et al turn. Who has Fartage pissed off?
Self identifying as working class seems to be a real thing amongst the Reform aristocracy.
"You’re a multi-millionaire. You made your money selling luxury helicopter charters and rare wines to the super-wealthy."
Is radio 4 Today starting to call out Reform and their corruption? Has Chris Mason realised yet that he’s going to be the only one left in the media saying that it’s going to be Reform in government after the next election?
💥Nick Robinson to Zia Yusuf: "Do you really think that Nigel Farage's credibility will be re-establshed by fighting Count Binface in a by-election that nobody pays attention to?"
Oh I think we'll all be listening to the Count!
Bloody hell, is Farage beginning to lose Nick Robinson now? Pretty soon it'll be just GB News and Chris Mason in his corner.
As always, Nick Robinson misses the mark. The real question is: “why do you claim a democratic vote legitimises the dodgy donations to Farage? Isn’t that literally straight out of the fascist playbook?”
Farage and his regime’s goons aren’t getting enough pushback saying that we don’t decide parliamentary standards by asking a cohort of geriatric racists who already voted for him once.
It’s going to be bigger than the World Cup what are they on about. The hilarity of it
The false premise is that Nigel ever had any "credibility".
I think it might do quite a lot to establish the credibility of Count Binface.
When you wanted to "wrestle back the agenda" but the agenda is now whether or not you can beat a bin.
My first day as Nigel Farage’s campaign manager seems to be going well. Later I need to arrange a debate with a man dressed as a bin.
I see Jeremy Paxman is now writing Nick Robinson's questions for him
On the contrary Nick, everyone will be paying attention.
Oh people will be paying attention!
“I’m not Nigel Farage” is Count Binface’s manifesto in Clacton. You never know, he might just do it! #R4Today
Looks better than the manifesto of the hate-filled, divisive give-up-your-human-rights-while-I-slither-off-with-£5million-in-my-back-pocket Guy👇
Surely the lost logical way to chose the new MP for clacton is to supply both candidates the tarmac mix, a shovel, and a mini stream roller and see which of them can fill most potholes in, say four hours? Whoever has most holes filled after being verified by an independent builder is the winner 🏆
His chances would be greatly improved if the other parties endorsed him and encouraged their supporters to vote for him.
Yes. Give support. It’s time to take out the trash! #binface
Reform UK's Zia Yusuf, "Just because you came to the country legally, doesn't mean you get to stay forever" Just as, just because you represent Reform UK, doesn't mean they'll accept your application to stand as an MP? 🤷♂️
I wonder if his Sri Lankan born parents agree with him?
This guy is just freaking unbelievable😳
Then that applies to his parents and Farage’s partner right?
It's amazing that Yusuf is such a racist he wants to destroy the security of his own parents. Words fail me
He would deport his own parents
This man is an utter c***! And I never use that word 😞
Zia Yusuf wants us to believe that a super rich, privately educated former commodities trader who owns multiple properties & receives 'gifts' from other super rich individuals (including £5m from a crypto billionaire) is a man of the people taking on the establishment.
Why does the BBC go along with filming Farage downing a pint? Ed Davey must be fuming about the act he has to put on to get them to film the backdrops he wants!
Farage represents the establishment, that’s why they pay him millions over his £100,000 salary that the taxpayer pays him an an MP!
Zia Yusuf has the perfect combination of charmlessness, arrogance and stupidity to thrive in Reform. Does anyone really take this fella seriously? #r4today
Tbf, this is nowhere near as bad as the performance of Reform banshee, Laila Cunningham, on Newsnight.
He's what happens when you let a rich person buy some friends who he has seen on the telly.
When his money runs out, he'll be ejected. His "friends" will suddenly notice that he's brown.
