AJ Dybantsa, the Wizards' No. 1 pick, scored 27 points and grabbed seven rebounds in his Las Vegas Summer League debut against No. 2 pick Darryn Peterson. Dybantsa shot 7-of-18 from the field, produced an emphatic dunk between two Jazz defenders, and left in the fourth quarter with calf soreness he downplayed after the game; it was his first game in four months and rust showed at times. Peterson finished with a team-high 24 points on 6-of-18 shooting but committed eight turnovers and picked up nine fouls, a total that would have led to an early disqualification in a regular-season game. Fans lined up as early as 7 a.m. in temperatures up to 110 degrees for the 6 p.m. matchup at Thomas and Mack Center, and notable attendees included Deandre Ayton, Anthony Davis, Paul Pierce, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Keyonte George; Kings coach Doug Christie watched standing at press row. Both players settled after early jitters, with Dybantsa finding most of his success attacking the rim and Peterson showing floaters and playmaking despite the miscues.
