Alexander Zverev defeated British wildcard Arthur Fery in straight sets to reach his first Wimbledon final. The 29-year-old German reached the Centre Court showpiece less than a month after winning his first Grand Slam title at Roland-Garros. Zverev closed out the semi-final in three sets, 7-6, 6-2, 6-4, ending Fery’s surprise run at the tournament. With the win Zverev is set to rise to world No. 2 on Monday. He will face either Novak Djokovic or Jannik Sinner in the final, with that semi-final still under way. Several commentators noted the contrast between Fery’s breakthrough week and Zverev’s continued surge through the majors this season.
