World No. 1 Jannik Sinner beat Alexander Zverev 6-7 (7), 7-6 (2), 6-3, 6-4 to defend his Wimbledon men’s singles title at the All England Club and claim his fifth Grand Slam crown. Zverev won the opening set but slipped and appeared to hyper-extend his right knee at 3-3 in the third set, after which Sinner broke serve, served out the set and went on to close the match with a forehand winner that sent him to the grass in celebration. Sinner hit 58 winners to Zverev’s 49 and made 25 unforced errors to Zverev’s 45, while Zverev led 17-15 in aces and pushed serves up to 139 mph. The win came in Sinner’s first tournament since a second-round collapse at the French Open that ended a 30-match run, underscoring his rebound from Paris. Sinner has now beaten Zverev 10 straight times, and Zverev arrived at Wimbledon fresh off his first Grand Slam title at the French Open. During the trophy ceremony Sinner said, "There’s no better place to play tennis," and the final drew a star-studded Royal Box that included Prince William, Kate and two of their children. Linda Noskova won the women’s title on Saturday for her first Grand Slam crown.
