Paramount Pictures has closed a deal with the Wes Craven estate to develop a new A Nightmare on Elm Street film based on Wes Craven's original screenplay. The project will be produced under Paramount's new Paramount Primal label and adapts material from Craven's original script. Paramount holds U.S. rights while New Line Cinema retains international rights. No casting, director, release date, or further creative details have been announced yet. The Wes Craven estate's participation was presented as an explicit element of the agreement and the project is currently in early development.

Sorry, but there's no Freddy without Robert Englund. It's like trying to make Indiana Jones without Harrison Ford.

My mom did a movie makeup class when I was in high school so she got me looking real fucked up for a proper Freddy Halloween costume and it melted into my eyes and mouth.

Make it an 80s Hair Metal Musical, and I'm in.

Oh man the IP reboot built in audience machine is COLLAPSING huh

the real nightmare is Hollywood never coming up with a single original idea

Summer Laverdure4

no one wants this except horror movie youtubers and podcasters who will hype this to the moon and back in the hopes that Paramount gives them a bump but when it comes out they'll say its the worst thing ever and they knew it all along and somehow these podcasts and youtube channels still have fans 🤷‍♀️

Paramount, the studio that sold Jason Voorhees to New Line Cinema because they hated making Friday the 13th movies that made them money, is now going to reboot Nightmare On Elm Street? I'm not even *cautiously* optimistic

I'm sure glad i haven't really had any interest in movies for the past few years. Seeing remake after reboot after re-imagining after sequel. It's just. Exhausting. Give us something new instead of betting on nostalgia bait. Lazy execs.
