Folarin Balogun says FIFA's red‑card reversal 'caused a lot of controversy'
🇺🇸 Team USA's Folarin Balogun admits that red-card reversal affected USA World Cup teammates: 'A lot of outside noise' created by Trump's corruption fucked their energy and jinxed their chances to beat Belgium. All Glory to Donald ⚽️ #WorldCup www.foxnews.com/sports/folar... #FoxNews
Editor's Note: The USMNT never had any real chance to beat Belgium.
They should have just kept him on the bench and that would have made a strong statement and removed the moral high ground Belgium had as their opponents, and then they wouldn't have had any lingering doubts. Their integrity was all they had left to lose.
Of course it will have affected them because it was openly corrupt but let’s be honest, they were highly unlikely to have beaten Belgium with or without the toddlers interference.
Besides Trump ruining the entire tournament with his stupid corrupt intervention! Many Americans have no idea how this looked to soccer fans all over the world! Idiots!
I thought so. He is a jinx.
I felt bad for Balogun who was caught in all this. Balogun approached the Belgium coach who even told him this is not your fault
This is a collection of crazy things said on Fox News about the World Cup. A couple of notes. No one mentioned that U.S. player Folarin Balogun is only a U.S. citizen due to birthright citizenship. The U.S. does NOT pay for Europe's healthcare system.
They are such repulsive assholes, I can't stand to listen. BTW Benny Johnson. I think their free health-care and education tops your free refills.
Everything is grist for the culture war mill. Every. Little. Thing.
But we do pay for Israel’s military.
That stupid smile on Kellyanne Conway’s face while she listened to that bullshit rant. She must have been so proud to hear the rancid fruit of her sold soul.
Just a reminder: Benny Johnson is a Russian asset and a traitor.
The US kinda does pay for Europe's healthcare thru profit shifting. US corps (Apple, Pfizer) license their patents to low-tax countries paying them royalties & lowering their tax payable to the US. These countries use the $ to pay for programs incl. single-payer HC. But that's not what he means...😉
This "US pays for Europe's healthcare" is propaganda that I heard all the way back in 2008. It started with some claim circulating in conservative US media alleging that Europeans could only afford healthcare because the US is paying for Europe's defense.
I have nothing against the eating establishment and the dish but someone asks me what's great about Canada and I answer "We have Tim Hortons!" "We have Poutine!" Then just deport me because I don't deserve to live in such an awesome country
USMNT striker Folarin Balogun told CBS that he could see the effect his red card suspension being overturned had on his team. "I could almost see within my teammates a bit of nerves." More, via @paultenorio.bsky.social: nyti.ms/4fwy8k1
Yeah Idunno how he and everyone else on the team doesn’t go into that game with extremely weird vibes despite this being none of their faults
They played like they felt guilty about it. It's a knock on Pochettino to change up the game plan less than 36-hours before kickoff. Consistency and momentum are more important than working Balogun back in last-minute. Poor decision on his part.
We can have never ending conversations what happened and was the red card wrong or right call in the first place etc. But this is how lot of people viewed this. With Trump's help you cheated, like it or not, or if you disagree. That's why "everyone" outside U.S. took immediately Belgium's side.
The USMNT is a mediocre, average team at best, but would've elevated themselves for eternity & earned a lot of goodwill if they chose not to pick him for this match to honor the decision & rules…….but they didn’t, & it blew up in their faces & reflected in their abject performance. Massive own goal
As a fan, it was then over for me also.
He didn’t have to accept it.
Trump truly did jinx the team and frankly this has likely endangered Balogun and his family from MAGA nuts who blame him for making Daddy look bad and failing to “defend the Homeland” as the government said in their support of Team USA
Turns out the vibes were actually atrocious and affected the players very much. I can't imagine how "sit this game out or you'll be forever a cheat" and "an asterisk will follow you the rest of your career if you win this game" would affect you, especially if you had zero say in the circumstances.
They were already beaten before they stepped on the pitch. Same thing happened to the Knicks in Game 3 of the Finals
No fim o Trump criou uma situação de constrangimento para os próprios jogadores dos EUA
1/🧵 FIFA says its judicial bodies are independent. Yet the decision to waive Folarin Balogun’s World Cup suspension was reportedly taken by one man alone. So who is Mohammad Al Kamali -and how independent has his own institutional background been? www.thetimes.com/sport/footba...
Det er en vild historie!
