Light announced the Light Flip, a minimalist flip phone that will sell for $299 and begin shipping in April 2027. The plastic-bodied handset has no front display, a 2.8-inch OLED inside, a 12-megapixel rear camera, stereo speakers, two microphones, and a replaceable 1,800-mAh battery. The Flip includes 5G, USB-C, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a headphone jack, Nano SIM and eSIM support, and explicitly no NFC. The device uses physical controls, a D-pad, three function keys, confirm/cancel buttons and T9 typing with predictive text, and will run LightOS tools such as Phone, Alarm, Calculator, Calendar, and Directions; Light also released an SDK for third-party tools. Light is offering a 24-month purchase plan at $39 per month that bundles service as an MVNO across AT&T and T-Mobile networks with 1 GB of data and unlimited calls and texts; the company also noted the Light Phone III has risen in price to $899. Light designed the Flip to appeal to Gen Z users seeking distraction-free devices, it will come in six colors, and the lower-cost plastic construction helped hold the price to $299.
