Conservatives reacted immediately, with commentators such as Andrew Kolvet and Kyle Becker calling for her censure and Fox News personality Joe Concha criticizing her on social media. The hearing marked the first public congressional scrutiny of a top Smithsonian leader since the institution became a target of President Donald Trump, according to ABC News, and the exchange sharpened partisan demands for formal discipline from some Republicans.
