Tony Romo arrested on suspicion of OWI in Milwaukee

Tony Romo, the 46-year-old CBS NFL lead game analyst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, was arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence after being stopped around 6 p.m. Thursday while driving south on Interstate 43 in Milwaukee, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said. Romo performed poorly on field sobriety tests, was taken into custody, booked and released, and faces a court appearance set for September 21. Romo was in Milwaukee to golf in the annual Wisconsin Amateur Championship, and he attended high school about 35 miles away in Burlington, Wisconsin, Wisconsin Public Radio reported. Under Wisconsin law a first-offense OWI is not a criminal charge and typically carries a $150 to $300 fine. Romo has been CBS’s lead game analyst since 2017; he played for the Cowboys from 2004 to 2016, made four Pro Bowls, and remains the franchise leader in career touchdown passes with 248.
