Elijah Zion Bieniemy, 27, was arrested and charged after authorities say he shot his mother, Mia Bieniemy, late Sunday at the family home in Ashburn, Virginia. Loudoun County deputies found 57-year-old Mia Bieniemy with multiple gunshot wounds; she was transported to a hospital and was in stable condition Monday. Elijah Bieniemy faces charges of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling and is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. Eric Bieniemy was with the Kansas City Chiefs at practice in St Joseph, Missouri, earlier Sunday and did not attend Monday’s closed workout; the Chiefs released a statement saying they will not comment out of respect for the family and offering thoughts and prayers. The shooting occurred at a home the Bieniemys owned from Eric Bieniemy’s time with the Washington Commanders. Eric Bieniemy rejoined the Chiefs this season as offensive coordinator; he previously joined Kansas City’s staff in 2013, served five seasons as running backs coach, was promoted to offensive coordinator and helped the Chiefs reach three Super Bowls and win two of them.
