Nolan used practical animatronics for the pig scene in The Odyssey

Christopher Nolan used practical animatronics rather than CGI for the Circe 'pig' transformation scene in The Odyssey. GamesRadar reports the crew built pig animatronics that Samantha Morton, who plays Circe, could move and manipulate with her hands; clever editing and camera angles make it appear she is morphing Odysseus's men into pigs. Morton told Vanity Fair, "there's no CGI, and everything is real and in camera." Chief lighting technician Adam Chambers posted a photo of a pig-head animatronic to Instagram; that post was deleted and later reshared on Nolanarchive. The sequence recreates the episode in which Odysseus's companions eat Circe's food and are turned into pigs, and its practical execution underscores Nolan's stated no-CGI approach throughout the film.

Why is it ‘graceless’ for Emily Wilson to express disdain for Nolan as a filmmaker? Would you rather she were dishonest and cravenly express affection or admiration for work that she does not care for simply because it has boosted her book sales? Some bizarre takes on this…
