Halo: Campaign Evolved launches, devs discuss remake on Xbox podcast
Bought Halo: Campaign Evolved and I already hate what they've done.
Look, I know there's a dumb hate campaign going on for this game that I refuse to take part in, but some of the decisions here are completely anti-fun and feel like overcorrections during the playtesting phase. They do not want you to go anywhere else than the main path.
it’s to prevent you from ending up here
My personal problem is the fact that Cortana got turned into a non-stop exposition dialogue character "A door! Maybe there's a button that opens the door!" "You should look for Keyes, he should be in [Exact location]" (this line replays every 2 minutes) Plus her sassyness is gone, it's a travesty
This is just that Mario Unreal Engine 5 bit but unironically
We are straight back at 2010 style game design
There's lots of bollocks in the remake, sadly :(
According to Circana's Player Engagement Tracker, on July 28th Halo: Campaign Evolved ranked 4th in US DAU on Xbox platforms (8% of total Xbox players on that date launched the game), while placing 14th on Steam (2% of actives) and 29th on PlayStation (1% of actives).
The average console player engaged with Halo: Campaign Evolved for over 2 hours on tthe 28th, with the average Steam player spending a little over 1 hour in the game.
What is the criteria for being considered an "active" steam user? Having logged into steam within x amount of days? Played something within x amount of days? Something else? Apologies if you've covered this previously.
We watched @raspberrynova.bsky.social play Campaign Evolved. A few levels of bad enemy ai in we all realized the sprint they added breaks game, the ai can't catch you, even the flood are too slow. You can literally run to the end of the game. Thus begun the story of... JOHN-117MPH FASTER CHIEF.
Absolutely baffled this game got released, there's no stamina bar, you can sprint forever (which is fitting at least we guess) Elites don't combat roll anymore, they just kind of stand around and shoot at you, grunts don't break if you kill enough of them or their elite commander.
everything i hear about this remake makes me more vindicated for not liking it since it was announced
by far the most offensive thing i’ve heard about halo campaign evolved is that they apparently fucked with the music, like there are several classic cues that don’t happen in the new version. why would you do that!!!
If you can’t include the original ost what are you doing? Like I can see maybe the halo soundtrack being too expensive but the rayman 30th anniversary and crash trilogy did this sh*t too. To what end? I know its money.
it's also constantly drowned out by the sound effects. really weird issue for a game with iconic music like this
Paying that asshole guy a little less? MGS Delta also rerecorded Snake Eater for some dumb reason
