Only 25 U.S. cinemas will show The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm
Projection so powerful, you could screen the Odyssey in 70MM IMAX from it.
her position on "Champion of human rights", implies that trans people aren't human. Which is of course her intent.
That's why I'm funding people to shut them up, because I support free speech.
“It has become a tyrant the opposes free speech and belief” — person who is suing amnesty international for exercising free speech and belief.
She really doesn’t believe she was limiting Amnesty’s freedom of speech by sending her ghoulish lawyers on them, does she?
I hate her so god damn much
Clearly no mirrors in castle Rowling
one of the most frustrating things about what Rowling has turned into is how hard it is to explain to offline people that she’s not just another author who has turned out to have shitty views - her entire life and fortune is dedicated to destroying trans people
you know I think she knows exactly what she's doing, she knows it is cruel that's why she deliberately twists the knife every chance she gets. v she wants to hurt people. to hurt *us*
stating that organizations who are objectively taking action against trans people's rights to safety, healthcare, personal privacy and bodily autonomy are anti-trans rights organizations is not "persecution" nor is it suppressing your free speech. you absolute whiny baby.
So, apparently Rowling is in a dispute with Amnesty International because they had the temerity to call her (in a since-retracted report) "anti-trans"... And, like, isn't that literally her whole point to life now?
Every day JKR comes up with a new reason why she should be stripped of all her wealth and power and live in a box.
"I don't care about individuals." Yes Joanne, we know. That's the problem.
Meanwhile, she wants to sue charities for expressing their own freedom of speech. It’s telling so many of the same reactions using “free speech” as a guise to express regressive and hate, now buck at the idea and clutch pearls over the same right they were bemoan.
Other @ec.europa.eu countries should file charges of human rights abuses, & incitement of human rights abuses against Rowling for her diseased fascist hate-speech & her direct funding, & other actions in service of crimes against humanity. She's a filthy & human bigot. Put this Nazi thing in a cage.
She’s right in that Amnesty isn’t a champion of free speech & belief right now, but not it the way she thinks. Until they come out swinging at this evil, demented piece of shit, they’ve no right to call themselves a human rights organisation.
The fact Joanne is Mein Kampf posting about Amnesty International is something we all need to make an effort to get people to understand. She is the UK’s Elon Musk.
If that reviewer had seen the Odyssey in IMAX 70mm they’d realise all their complaints were addressed at the top and bottom of the frame
I saw it in the smaller IMAX so I missed the characterization of Calypso in the margins
Odysseus holding a sign listing his many complications and ambiguities offscreen à la Bart
Sex on the top, good food on the bottom
She missed the bit where the giant horse came out of the screen
The Prestige sucks because it doesn't examine how the magic war destroyed the megaphone crooning scene.
„Did you know? Helen of Troy was actually conceived through bestiality. She hatched from an egg“
If you get any kind of motion sickness, vertigo, vestibular migraines, etc. do NOT go see The Odyssey (not in IMAX, at least.) I had to walk out after an hour and throw up and I swear to God, a random woman came out shortly after me and was dry heaving in the hallway. It's soooo dizzying. Oooof.
I will say this: the hour that I watched was really incredible and I forced my friends to keep watching while I headed home and they said the dizziness got even worse but that the movie is really incredible and so I'll definitely watch it in full once I can watch it from home.
I was told it was unbelievably loud and so I brought earplugs. But I haven't seen anything about how shaky the camera can be. If I had known, I would have stayed home. Anyway, don't make the same mistake I did! 🤢
How did it compare to Blair Witch on the barf factor?
Oh this is so good to know, thank you 🙏🏻
what's interesting is that this phenomenom is also occurring at the same time that every single seat for the Odyssey IMAX 70mm near me is sold out into the end of next month
random policies we should enact: 1. ban the infinite scroll 2. smartphones should make a continuous loud noise whenever the record/capture button is pressed
Most people assume that the decline of movie theaters is due to young people who would rather scroll on their phone all day, but the truth is that the younger generations are driving ticket sales while the olds are watching movies in their cozy home theaters.
I don't have the hard numbers, but I work in the industry and my informed guess is: Yes, The Odyssey is a runaway success and is going to make gobs and gobs of money. But it took 3 years to make and was loaded with risk. Short form slop? No risk and ultimately more profitable at scale.
Kinda feels like there's a widening gap between prestige movies/tv and the slop, with the middle getting hollowed out. Now, where have we seen a similar dynamic at play?
people comparing the Odyssey experience in IMAX vs regular cinemas are missing the actual aspect ratio that matters
if you missed the top and bottom parts of Nolan's cinematic masterpiece, you can look forward to watching them they way they were meant to be seen, on Tiktok
It's fine, I watch all the big blockbusters the way god intended, on 8" screens on the back of the airplane seat in front of me.
