You can throw in the cocaine residue that was found all over Parliament when they did a sweep of the building. It's not a serious place of work - it's largely still a club where posh wee boys go so they don't have to get a proper job; or indeed do a day's work. The place is full of overgrown kids.

No valid reasons for heavy, subsidised, drinking of alcohol in Parliament. Sadly, those who want to keep pouring booze down their throats at our expense are the ones who decide whether to continue. Long hours? Many work long hours doing more than talking. Let them make themselves a tea or coffee.

I work for the NHS and if I were drunk at work I'd be fired on the spot and rightly so. The fact MPs are allowed to get absolutely sloshed at work - and on the taxpayer's dime, no less - is totally insane.

The bars of @ukparliament.parliament.uk are a subsidised offence to all of the people who would be fired for being drunk on the job. If you can’t stay sober working as a highly paid lawmaker; you should be banned from politics.

We need to do a risk assessment to drink alcohol at work 😂. There’s also random drug and alcohol testing. I don’t understand why it’s ok for MPs to get pished when they’re meant to be working 🙄

We dont let surgeons do operations which affect one person's life when they've been drinking. Why should we let MPs run the country, which affects 69 million people's lives.? 🤔 Or maybe, running the UK doesn't require a lot of communication, balanced thought, sound judgement and memory?

I think as well as the obvious effects, it's the sheer amount of time it takes to drink like that. you'd either see him drinking constantly or he'd never be around.

Old colleague stood at bar drinking - never sat down. Explained he'd indignity of attempting to get up for the toilet & found himself legless, wet himself. His wife was confirmed to have him shovel a large pile of sand into a barrow, walk across garden & empty that, reverse process to sober him up!
