Benches briefly cleared in Sacramento after Detroit Tigers reliever Kenley Jansen objected to an Athletics opponent’s bunt. Jansen took issue with Jeff McNeil bunting with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, a play McNeil reportedly “couldn’t believe.” The Tigers recorded the final out and the benches emptied following that out, with the incident described as occurring postgame. Reports locate the game in West Sacramento, California, and identify Jansen as the Tigers pitcher at the center of the altercation. No ejections or injuries were reported in the posts about the incident.

Tigers have scratched Casey Mize from his scheduled start tonight at Athletics. No injury, just a cautionary move ahead of trade deadline Monday, similar to Jack Flaherty in 2024. Mize will start Tuesday at Seattle if not traded. Tigers will do a bullpen game tonight.
