Blue Jays trade Kevin Gausman to Cubs
I rarely comment on departing players, but Kevin Gausman is different. A thoughtful, reliable and impressive person to cover. All of the reasons #BlueJays fans were drawn to Gausman are genuine and real. Model player, model representative of this organization. He did it right.
Maybe we will get him back after the season…this trade makes me so sad
Kick ass "Girl Dad" and solid family man!
I’ll definitely be backing the Cubs as my NL team to beat the evil empire.
As a Cubs fan, I feel really lucky. Always liked Kevin. Remember him pitching for The Orioles.
And the Jays tossed him for peanuts
I would happily own a Gausman jersey. Blue Jay for life now. A buddy of mine delivered his mail, and always said he was a decent, friendly guy.
I figured when the Jays signed Kevin Gausman that giving a five-year deal to a 30 year-old starter, you hope to get three good years. He gave 4 and 2/3s, plus last year’s postseason, and was fun to watch and easy to root for. Forever a good dude. Forever a Blue Jay.
And all of this throwing 2 and 1/2 pitches.
I hope they resign him
The best FA signing the team has made in my time as a fan. He’s the best
Had there been a better FA signing in blue jays history? Can’t think of one personally
Hate when moments like this come, he's a nice buddy
Dalton Varsho was exactly as advertised for the balance of his Blue Jays tenure. League average bat and good OF defense. He’ll never get the “credit” he deserves for the Game 7 World Series loss and, unless you’re Jeff Hoffman, that’s probably for the best.
Kind of drives me crazy that they never used him as a catcher. It just felt like there was such an opportunity for that roster flexibility that it would’ve made sense at least a couple of times to depend on him as the backup instead of Heineman.
I was indifferent on Varsho until He went absolutely to shit in the WS. He was beyond horrible. People love to blame Hoffman and IKF but Varsho deserves some of that anger too
Was he in charge of coaching guys to take leads off third?
Cubs adding Reid Detmers and Kevin Gausman, and, honestly, they’re a legit World Series contender
