Blue Jays acquire José Soriano from Angels for Arjun Nimmala, others
José Soriano will be a similar type of project to Dylan Cease for Pete Walker and the #BlueJays' pitching staff. He's already got great shit. He sits at 97-98 mph with a nasty knuckle curve. If they push the right buttons, they can turn a very good pitcher into a great one.
Maybe if Nimmala were a high contact, no power bat, they might have kept him.
He puts a smile on my face.
Two TJ surgeries makes my tummy hurt.
Cease, Yeasavage, Soriano- That’s a pretty good front end
I don't mind this deal. Soriano was the best pitcher in Baseball early this season. A little time with with Pete Walker, and this guy could be incredible! #Bluejays ⚾ #MLB
I have to say, as much as the Blue Jays have struggled this year (Injuries, normal regression from Springer, Vladdy being garbage), boy do I love these pitcher trades/signings they come up w/ to replace depth. Ray, Gausman, Berrios, Bieber, Cease. Seem to always have a #2 in the cross hairs
Orioles (2.5 GB from a playoff spot) doing a sell off is beyond frustrating. They could’ve added Jose Soriano, Kris Bubic, something, literally anything
only because we have the only gm in the league who cannot possibly buy at the deadline, our garbage prospects are "too valuable"
Sure, but Mikey Boi would tell you that puts the 2030 team at risk.
I am not sure what the Orioles end game is. Like--let's say 2028--what does that team look like?
And gotten guys back off the IL and been fine. Just had their best month record wise since 2024. Elias can go fuck himself. Such an unserious President of Baseball Ops. Should be unemployed.
This season has been painful even as a casual fan. I feel awful for primary Orioles fans. Adley was the heart of this team
They're close but have you priced a hard drive recently?
and yet strangely people claim the dodgers for ruining baseball
Every trade made with the Angels is a “buy low” situation. The Jays can probably help Jose Soriano become a better pitcher overnight by virtue of not being the Angels. Getting him to Dunedin and putting some “we’re not the Angels” player development fundamentals into place is an easy win.
poor arjun, no one deserves this
He'll shake off the Loser Dust in no time. Great score for the Jays. WTF, Cubs, where are you? Who's the big deal they have hinted about?
The embarrassment of all your players getting better as soon as they leave is too much for Arte Moreno, this is pretty much my theory as to why the Angels never used to trade anyone for prospects.
Trading with the Angels is the new trading with the A’s
In a surprise move, the Toronto Blue Jays are acquiring Angels right-handed starter Jose Soriano, per @JeffPassan. He has 2 1/2 years left of control
So are they going to be both buyers AND sellers to set themselves up for next year figuring this was “one of those years” but the team just needs minor tweaks to contend next year? He replaces Gausman. Or are they going to flip him before 6, and this was easier than trying to work a multi-team deal
hope for 2027 season yet
