Arsenal agree £75m fee with Newcastle for Bruno Guimarães

sportsAug 5, 202624910

Arsenal and Newcastle have reached agreement on a £75m fee for Newcastle captain Bruno Guimarães, with the clubs sanctioning the sale after protracted talks and a reported compromise over terms. The 28-year-old Brazil midfielder, who joined Newcastle from Lyon in 2022, has made clear his intention to move to Arsenal and is Mikel Arteta's stated first-choice target in central midfield. BBC Sport says a full agreement is now almost done and Guimarães is waiting for permission to leave Newcastle's training base in La Manga, Spain, to finalise formalities. Arsenal are preparing for the Brazil international's medical this week. BBC reporting adds there is no official confirmation of the fee and some sources have suggested it could reach £80m, while multiple outlets describe the figure as £75m. The immediate next steps are Newcastle granting leave, the player undergoing a medical and the clubs completing paperwork to register the transfer with the FA.

If he doesn't throw an elbow at Gunnersaurus in his announcement video then what are we even doing

Always liked this lad, Bruno. Never said a cross, hateful, aggro, or rude word about him. Nope. Not me.

Not content with going an entire season without conceding a penalty or having a man sent off, Arsenal are now looking for a player who can commit GBH without getting booked. Fair play. Or not, as the case may be.

Time for another old fashioned Ornbomb pic

Get him gone. Just like every other player, more fool me thinking he was different. Thought at one point he’d go down as one of my all time favourite #NUFC players. If someone had told you after the cup final that next summer Howe, Isak, Tonali, Gordon and Bruno will be gone you’d call them mad.

If Bruno doesn’t do a “Yo Vini, you wanna come out here” clip when he signs I’ll be devastated 🇧🇷 #afc #Arsenal #Gooners #COYG #BrunoG

Bitte geht der Transfer durch, denn Newcastle will als Ersatz Nmecha. Nmecha nicht mehr in der BL ertragen zu müssen, wäre ein Gewinn.

This is coming to an end. Unlike last summer, I have faith in the club's ability to get deals over the line. He can't be replaced like-for-like, but if we can get a winger, midfielder and centerback in, as well as some fullback cover, we'll have had a decent summer. #NUFC

No mention of accepted bids or prices, just acknowledging the fact that NUFC are entertaining negotiations and want it resolved quickly (rather than saying 'not for sale') Jesus, just get it done or shut it down #nufc

I'm so fucking sick of NUFC just caving in. Spineless fucking cucks. Let's just start writing our contracts on water biscuits.

Re: Bruno. Love the guy, always a great footballer. It's a short career, & his leaving gives the new bloke more room/money to reshape things. Softens expectations early too. It's a lot to take in. New chapter, lotta risk. Thanks for everything BG #NUFC
