FIFA's management board reaffirmed full support for president Gianni Infantino after an emergency meeting at FIFA's Africa office in Rabat on Wednesday, despite widespread criticism. Infantino apologised for "errors" in a shelved plan to sell stakes in FIFA competitions through a new subsidiary called FIFA Forward Enterprise and for offering associations $40m each to back the proposal. UEFA said it has lost confidence in Infantino and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said he no longer has confidence in the FIFA president. Secretary general Mattias Grafstrom called the episode "a sad and reproachable series of events" in an internal memo but joined the management board in a signed apology letter with Infantino to FIFA vice-presidents, the council and 211 member associations. FIFA acknowledged mistakes after the proposal was leaked to the media, with The Times breaking the story on 28 July, and denied reports that Infantino promised Morocco the 2030 World Cup final in exchange for support. Infantino and Grafstrom were later pictured attending a Women's Africa Cup of Nations match in Rabat, and Infantino looks set to seek a fourth term as president.

FIfA’s secretary general and other top brass that traveled to Morocco to meet with embattled Gianni Infantino appear to have folded without much of a fight and fallen into line behind Gianni Infantino. Many owe their careers to him and perhaps that was most important to them in the end.
