President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social around midnight threatening to "hunt down" and seek "long term jail sentences" for people he called "leakers" after the Washington Post reported a dispute with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth about a possible munitions shortage. The Post, citing two anonymous internal sources, said shortages in long-range guided missiles and air-defense interceptors influenced Trump's decision to pull back from massive strikes against Iran and were discussed at Camp David. Trump denied the reporting and asserted "The U.S. has massive amounts of 'munitions,' especially of certain types," but offered no evidence. The Washington Post updated its report about 3:30 a.m. and noted that while new production agreements exist for systems such as Patriot missiles, some munitions can take as long as two years to produce and there is no immediate relief. The Post also linked defensive-munitions scarcity to shortages affecting Ukraine's air defenses against Russia.
