A24 released the full trailer for Primetime, with Robert Pattinson producing and starring as To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen. The film, directed by Matt Oppenheim in his narrative feature debut and written by Ajon Singh, follows Hansen during the era of the Dateline NBC sting operations that ran from 2004 to 2007. Primetime casts Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Phoebe Bridgers, Matthew Maher, and Bokeem Woodbine alongside Pattinson and adopts a psychological thriller tone. The trailer frames Hansen chasing ratings and suggests ambitions of the show being "bigger than Lost," while also nodding to longstanding controversies including entrapment accusations and conflict of interest claims. The article recounts the 2006 Murphy, Texas sting that ended when Kaufman County assistant district attorney Bill Conradt shot himself on November 5, 2006, and notes Patricia Conradt later filed a wrongful death suit that was settled out of court; NBC canceled To Catch a Predator by 2008. Primetime will world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival and opens in U.S. theaters on September 25, 2026, the same day as Universal's Forgotten Island and Paramount's Heart of the Beast. After Primetime's release, Pattinson is slated to play Scytale in Dune: Part Three, reuniting him with Zendaya.
