Sam Kerr tapped home at 41 minutes from a Jaedyn Shaw assist to put Gotham FC 2-1 up against the Kansas City Current and in doing so became Gotham FC's all-time leading scorer. Gotham won 2-1, extending their unbeaten run to eight matches and their winning streak to three. Match statistics posted after the game credited Gotham with a higher xG, roughly 2.8 to 1.8, and seven quality chances to Kansas City's three. The game took place in Harrison. The contest included a contentious challenge: several posts singled out Penelope Hocking for a cheap shot on Kerr and said Kerr was visibly angry. Gotham's victory consolidated their position atop the table and will carry the team into upcoming fixtures with increased momentum.
