Harris first teased her involvement with a Comic-Con sneak-peek post on July 27 and kept plot details tightly under wraps until the episode aired. Some viewers singled out the production work by name, praising the Jim Henson Creature Shop and the cast for making the unusual installment both funny and dangerous in tone. The episode joins season 4’s stream of high-concept entries and is available to watch now on Paramount+.

A rather sweet and touching scene from the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds episode “Level-Five Transporter Accident”. Spock (Ethan Peck) is performing some painless surgery on a perfectly conscious La’an in sickbay, while Chapel and M’Benga look on. Everyone except Spock is a puppet. Puppet La’an has perfect eyeliner and is looking towards the camera with an expression I can’t find words for, while a scan of her is on the monitor above the bed. Spock looks serious yet fairly calm, as if this is just one of the hazards all crew members accept on the flagship of the Federation. Very much like when you’re having a very weird and nonsensical dream yet it all seems perfectly normal until you wake up and realise how bonkers it all was.

Can’t believe I’m saying this… but I‘d really like a non-silly episode of Strange New Worlds. Usually I love silly Star Trek but the balance feels off when every other episode is goofy in a very short season (and short seasons is all we get now with streaming).

People complaining about the Star Trek puppet episode clearly never saw the one where Kirk was possessed by his evil ex-girlfriend or the one where Dr Crusher fell in love with a ghost. Stupid episodes were a staple of every show back when seasons were 24 episodes long.
