HBO Max orders 'The People v. Gorilla Grodd' series

HBO Max has officially ordered an eight-episode DC Studios mockumentary series titled The People v. Gorilla Grodd. The series centers on Jimmy Olsen, played by Skyler Gisondo, opposite Jimmy Tatro as Gorilla Grodd, and is written and showrun by Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, the creators of American Vandal. The cast announcement names Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, plus Mary Holland, Eduardo Franco, Arian Moayed, Andrew Leeds, Tim Baltz, and Dan Perrault in additional roles. Outlets report the show is presented as an in-universe true crime style documentary set in the Superman world; HBO Max is moving forward with the project after it was first reported in November 2025. The network ordered the series as a standalone eight-episode pickup for HBO Max, with the creative team and core cast attached.
