HBO Max orders 'The People v. Gorilla Grodd' series

HBO Max officially ordered The People v. Gorilla Grodd, an eight-episode DC Studios mockumentary comedy that reimagines Jimmy Olsen and Gorilla Grodd in a true-crime style. Skyler Gisondo will star as Jimmy Olsen and Jimmy Tatro will play Gorilla Grodd. The series was created and will be led by Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, the creators of American Vandal. The cast also includes Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, plus Mary Holland, Eduardo Franco, Arian Moayed, Andrew Leeds and Tim Baltz. HBO Max described the project as a DC Studios comedy and has moved forward with a formal series order. The series order confirms HBO Max is developing this offbeat entry in the DCU television slate. No premiere date was announced in the reports included here.

Grodd has worked in comics without Flash before and this pitch would be intriguing with any villain slotted in, imo. Flash is the biggest DC character yet to have a DCU project out or in development but Grodd's use here doesn't prevent his meeting Flash later if they want to do that. ...
