Kyle Schwarber walk-off caps six-run 9th, Phillies extend streak

With two outs in the ninth inning and the Phillies trailing 4-0, Edmundo Sosa doubled and sparked a six-run rally capped by Kyle Schwarber’s two-run walk-off homer to beat the Cardinals 6-4 at Citizens Bank Park. Schwarber’s shot, off Cardinals reliever Riley O’Brien, traveled 459 feet with a 108.5 mph exit velocity and landed in the batter’s eye to end the game. The homer gave Philadelphia its ninth straight victory and was the club’s first walk-off home run in more than three years. The rally began after the Phillies had been scoreless for eight innings and completed a dramatic late comeback with two outs in the ninth.

The Phillies, comatose for eight innings, just won their ninth straight game by scoring six runs in the ninth inning. Kyle Schwarber hits their first walk-off homer in more than three years. What in the absolute hell.

And so, the magic continues. Kyle Schwarber clobbers a two-run homer to walk off the Cardinals and the Phillies sweep the six-game homestand. That's their ninth straight win.
