Tristan Peters' walk-off homer gives White Sox a 2-1 win over Mets

Tristan Peters hit a ninth-inning walk-off solo home run off Kodai Senga to give the White Sox a 2-1 win over the Mets. Peters swung his yellow banana bat on a 3-1 fastball and drove the ball just right of center; it bounced off the top of the wall and over the guard rail after A.J. Ewing mistimed a leap. The White Sox scored their first run in the eighth when Andrew Benintendi ripped a line drive off the base of the right-field wall, allowing Miguel Vargas to score all the way from first. Grant Taylor entered the ninth with a 1-0 lead but issued a walk and then yielded the go-ahead RBI to Jared Young earlier in the inning that tied the game at 1. Sean Newcomb, Erick Fedde, and Hagen Smith combined for eight shutout innings, and Smith earned the win; Taylor was charged after the ninth unraveled. Chicago has now recorded 11 walk-off victories this season, and Peters has accounted for three of them. The White Sox took two of three from the Mets, with Friday's series-opening walk-off by Jake Rogers mirroring Sunday’s finish.

Yes, the #Mets lost 2 of 3 to the White Sox. But it came down to the bottom of the ninth in both of those losses, and in our win we were dominant. Considering Chicago is a first-place, playoff-bound team, I’m impressed with how we held our own.
