Tristan Peters' walk-off homer gives White Sox a 2-1 win over Mets

Tristan Peters hit a ninth-inning walk-off solo home run off Kodai Senga, sending the White Sox past the Mets 2-1 and completing a two-of-three series win. Peters used the yellow banana bat he brought to the All-Star Game and lifted a 3-1 Senga fastball just right of center as Carson Benge timed but missed a leaping play at the wall. The victory was Chicago's 11th walk-off of the season and Peters' third walk-off of the year, two of them hits and one a walk. Andrew Benintendi produced the go-ahead run in the eighth with a line drive off the base of the right-field wall that allowed Miguel Vargas to score from first. Hagen Smith worked two scoreless relief innings to earn the win after Sean Newcomb and Erick Fedde provided earlier length. Grant Taylor surrendered the run that tied the game when Jared Young drove in Carson Benge and later issued a walk that loaded the bases before escaping further damage.

Yes, the #Mets lost 2 of 3 to the White Sox. But it came down to the bottom of the ninth in both of those losses, and in our win we were dominant. Considering Chicago is a first-place, playoff-bound team, I’m impressed with how we held our own.
