Ruben Amorim won his AC Milan debut as the Rossoneri beat Torino 2-1 in the Serie A opener at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. Alphadjo Cisse broke the deadlock early in the second half and Adrien Rabiot doubled Milan's lead two minutes later after escaping Gvidas Gineitis's marker to finish at the far post. Torino pulled one back deep in stoppage time when Gineitis delivered a left-sided set-piece and Che Adams improvised a volleyed finish with his back to goal. Lithuanian international Gvidas Gineitis played the full 90 minutes, provided Milan's late concession with his assist and picked up the match's only yellow card after being fouled by Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The opening half produced few clear chances before Milan took control following a series of second-half substitutions. Torino travel to Sassuolo next Saturday in Serie A round two.
