Warner Bros. release Coyote vs. Acme opens in theaters today after months of uncertainty about whether the studio would shelve the film. Director Dave Green published a thank-you letter on opening day, calling the release a celebration and saying movies exist to be seen and shared. Early critical response is positive, with the film earning a Certified Fresh rating and reviewers praising its humor, heart, and the animation/live-action blend; some critics note it drags slightly in the middle. Actors Forte and Cena receive repeated praise for their performances. The film played a sold-out world premiere Wednesday at the Directors Village where Green and cast appeared and Wile E. Coyote made an appearance. Several posts say the film will play in limited U.S. theaters for about a week, and many viewers urge audiences to see it now after the production faced attempts to be written off by studio executives.
