House Oversight presses to release Epstein files, seeks AG testimony

journalismSep 3, 2026728,018

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer says he still wants Attorney General Todd Blanche to testify as part of the panel’s ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and related records. The committee is pushing to unseal the so-called Epstein files and has sought nondisclosure agreements and other documents tied to Epstein’s network, prompting billionaire Leon Black to sue the committee and decline to appear for a scheduled appearance this week. Former President Bill Clinton testified before the committee hours before a sudden escalation of U.S.-Iran hostilities, a development Republican Rep. Thomas Massie and others warned should not be used to distract from demands to release the files. Massie, who led passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act last year and is pursuing a discharge petition to force votes, has publicly pressed for full disclosure; Sen. Rand Paul also criticized the Iran operation as irrelevant to the panel’s work. The committee’s requests for NDAs and other records have already produced legal pushback and set up a likely courtroom fight that could delay or define the scope of any public release and future testimony.

Mike Johnson and the Republicans are running away from the Epstein files so they’ll be taking off the last two weeks of September while the rest of us keep working.

I signed the discharge petition to force a vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act II. The American people deserve the truth.

Republican voters: we want to afford groceries, healthcare, rent, and clothing. We want the Epstein files released. We want to stop paying for foreign wars. The Trump family:
