The FIA International Court of Appeal upheld McLaren and Red Bull's appeals and reinstated two five-second pit-lane speeding penalties against Pierre Gasly from the Monaco Grand Prix, dropping him from third on the road to seventh in the official classification. Isack Hadjar is returned to third, Oscar Piastri moves to fourth, Liam Lawson to fifth and Arvid Lindblad to sixth. The court based its ruling on sporting fairness and on the principle that the benchmark for measuring the pit-lane speed limit cannot be changed retrospectively once competitors have been informed. The judges noted a 77 centimetre discrepancy between the officially measured pit-lane distance and the shortest possible route but concluded that the official measurement, which was tape-measured, used throughout practice and race sessions and reconfirmed during the race, remained the valid parameter. The panel affirmed that F1 applies the pit-lane limit by average speed over the relevant timing sector rather than instantaneous speed. The court rejected the argument made at Alpine's earlier appeal that a later, shorter measurement showing Gasly had not exceeded 60 km/h should overturn the original penalties. The decision also altered other outcomes from Monaco, including Mercedes' George Russell being dropped out of the points after a penalty for not correctly serving a pit-lane speeding sanction.
