Amazon cargo plane overshoots runway at Miami International Airport

An Amazon-branded 21 Air Boeing 767-300, Flight 7598 from San Juan, Puerto Rico, overran the diagonal runway at Miami International Airport around 2pm on Sunday, September 6, and crashed at the airport’s north-west end. The aircraft caught fire, produced heavy plumes of dark smoke in video footage, and struck multiple vehicles as Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and more than 60 units responded to extinguish the blaze and assess patients. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the crash and said it will investigate; Miami International Airport closed all runways and taxiways and issued an air and ground stop. Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office announced nearby street closures and US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said responders would assess the scene. Amazon said the incident is under investigation and that its priority is the safety and care of those involved.

There will be discussion of the winds, but as currently being reported I’m not seeing impossible landing conditions. Further, if the approach is unstable then shoot it as missed and go around again. Commercial pilots are trained for this so yes, flight training at the company is another question.

Looks like the operator was 21air. I'm going to speculate based on the video and say that there's a chance get-there-ritis may have played a role, based on that storm in the background.
