NYT: Documents show officials misled New Yorkers on 9/11 air quality
They published this the same day they published the news that Mamdani's office is releasing to the public thousands of documents showing Giuliani's office knew how toxic the air was around Ground Zero and lied about it, leading to more deaths than on 9/11.
My friend spent weeks as a volunteer at ground zero and died of cancer Giuliani can go fuck himself
Well before nightfall in LA on 9/11, a core global occupational & environmental medicine discussion list had vehemently warned of the obvious, deadly air quality dangers from WTC dust still shrouding NYC. NYC/State & USG knew the same. Giuliani's “back to normal” push caused avoidable mass death.
People of all faiths (and no faiths) died that day. The city that grieved and pulled together — Rudy had nothing to do with that. He’d been mongering hate afterall for a long time. And when it came down to the wire? Some could have been rescued by helicopter before the towers fell. Where was he?
Didn't we learn like 10 years ago that he also had business dealings with Ukraínian and Russían mafía? Or was that just suspected?
Giuliani is like the NYT, a puppy piss rag.
All The News Fit To Print
Obviously racist rudy has been deflecting his corruption by condemning Mamdani (a Muslim you know).
Should the NY Times be dealing with their emotional issues around NYC voters picking a mayor it didn't endorse in therapy rather than self-medicating with an endless stream of shoddy and frankly more than a little stalker-ish hit pieces?
Ghouliani can shut his fricking pie hole.
You know what “misled” means? That information was known and decisions were made to intentionally lead people away from it. It is an active, multi-step form of lying. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/07/n...
it was obviously unhealthy and everyone who ran in to help find survivors is a hero
/looks at scars on stomach from needed surgery for Crohn's Disease that I'm 95% sure was caused by being told it was okay to go back to area and tasting the metal air Yeaaaaaaahhhh
Isnt this sort of the thing Jon Stewart was going to court for a long time for the first responders who were all dying of cancer or other illnesses all likely brought on by how toxic it was?
It was impossible to believe that it was safe. The stench was absolutely nauseating for months.
🧵My family stopped through NYC (less than 3 miles from ground zero) 2 months after 9/11, & we wore N95s. Strangers were derisive, but it really seemed like common sense. Come to find out: Rep. Jerrold Nadler said he tried to convince Giuliani & Bloomberg "to release www.nytimes.com/2026/09/07/n...
It was such a specific smell, for months and months, it smelled of metal and glass and flesh.
“People are always far too eager to grab onto messaging that tells them no adjustments on their part are necessary. Feeling comfortable is more important than being safe, so they ignore the obvious”
“People are always far too eager to grab onto messaging that tells them no adjustments on their part are necessary. Feeling comfortable is more important than being safe, so they ignore the obvious - which it was.” 🧵👇
one more for labor day!
Over and over the message is clear: leadership doesn't want you to know that the air is bad.
Mas é claro que Giuliani iria esconder do público a situação do ar em manhattan depois do 11/9
“More people are believed to have died from illnesses related to the attacks in the years afterward than on Sept. 11 itself.” www.nytimes.com/2026/09/07/n...
Just awful betrayal of public trust
While it was still light in LA on 9/11, a global occupational & environmental medicine discussion list accurately outlined the obvious, deadly air quality dangers from WTC dust still cloaking NYC. NYC/State & USG knew the same. As with Covid, push for “back to normal” caused avoidable mass death.
