Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max featuring the new A20 Pro chip and a 48MP variable-aperture camera, with base pricing reported from $1,199. Early Geekbench entries for the A20 Pro show roughly 21 to 23 percent faster single-core performance and 27 to 28 percent faster multi-core performance versus the A19 Pro, with the iPhone 18 Pro scoring 4,719 single-core and 12,677 multi-core and the 18 Pro Max scoring 4,725 and 12,575. Both listings identify a six-core CPU running at about 4.93 GHz and point to a seven-core GPU variant that posts Metal scores about 38 to 40 percent faster than the A19 Pro’s six-core GPU. Apple says the A20 Pro is built on a 2 nanometer process, includes integrated Neural Accelerators, offers 50 percent more memory bandwidth, and uses new chip packaging plus a redesigned vapor chamber to enable up to 40 percent better sustained performance. MacRumors and the benchmark reports underline that these are early, unconfirmed one-off results and may not predict sustained real-world performance during prolonged workloads, but they provide the first performance look ahead of the devices reaching customers.
