Barack Obama, Joe Biden, George W. Bush and Jill Biden attended the 25th anniversary remembrance at Ground Zero in New York City and paused for the 8:46 AM ET moment of silence marking when the first plane struck the World Trade Center. Video coverage and reports show the leaders standing together at the ceremony as survivors, families and officials observed the milestone. Former White House Chief of Staff Andy Card recalled on TODAY how he whispered to then‑President George W. Bush on Sept. 11, 2001, that a second plane had hit the World Trade Center and said, “We have to keep the promise that we made when we said we would never forget.” The event focused on remembrance at the site where the attacks occurred and on honoring responders and victims 25 years after the attacks.

Watched The Falling Man on Prime last night. There were about 200 people who jumped that awful day. A friend who worked for the Port Authority said that at those temps your shoes and hair would be melting. You couldn't breathe. Knew you couldn't get out. I always wondered what would I have done?

Rough day, for sure. Always a toss-up on how to reflect without wallowing. Remembering Mark who worked recovery in NYC and then died of cancer. Thinking of John who spent his vacation time to volunteer in NYC working with 1st responders. More people, more memories. Peace to all.

I completely understand. I remember seeing a photograph taken of the rubble at ground zero with a glistening cloud of dust motes and in my mind, they were the thousands of souls leaving the earth. 💔💔💔

Today I’m lighting a candle for Bretagne, the last 9/11 search and rescue dog to pass away in 2016. She was suffering from advanced kidney failure. 9/11 was her first assignment. She worked ground zero for 10 days.
