Team USA wins FIBA World Cup, beats France 97-79

Team USA defeated France 97-79 in Berlin to win the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup final, claiming a fifth consecutive World Cup gold and the program’s 12th overall title. Breanna Stewart was named the tournament MVP. Jackie Young received Player of the Game for the final, with teammate Chelsea Gray coming out to photograph her award presentation. A decisive 30-12 third quarter put the game out of reach after France led early; Napheesa Collier finished with 6 points and 7 rebounds in 23.5 minutes for the United States. France’s Dominique Malonga led the French team with 21 points and 6 rebounds, and Gabby Williams added 20 points and 7 assists. TNT studio analyst Tina Charles described the win bluntly, saying, "Yeah, they just punched France in the face." The victory extended Team USA’s FIBA World Cup winning streak to 36 consecutive games.
