It's a kinda similar awkward position to the Odyssey where I wasn't a big fan of how it approaches the themes or integrates the sea peoples idea of bronze age collapse. But being just mildly negative on it is hard when the loudest negative voices are just spouting bullshit to poison the well on it

The monster design and highlighting the gore and fun parts of Resident Evil were awesome. I loved the use of video game logic that made sense down to game design light moments and framing. THAT was impressive, it wasn’t annoying at all. My only critique was a guy giving you the exposition mid movie

I went to go see Resident Evil (2026). It's very John Carpenter-y and also very short at only 90 minutes. Is it a faithful depiction of the Resident Evil video games? Nope. But it's really fun and you should especially go see it if you're a big fan of The Thing. A solid 👍

RESIDENT EVIL: Zach Cregger's latest is his least-great but still incredibly entertaining. Channeling THE THING and ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, he makes a studio reboot of a video game seem like a nasty B-movie he got away with. So many inspired moments, although Carpenter would wince at the jokiness.
