Jury convicts woman in killing of reporter covering Super Bowl

A Louisiana jury convicted a woman of negligent homicide in the 2025 death of Kansas City sports reporter Adan Manzano, who was found dead in his New Orleans hotel room while covering the Super Bowl. Prosecutors said the Jefferson Parish District Attorney's Office alleged Danette Colbert and Rickey White targeted seemingly affluent men in New Orleans tourism spots and drugged them in hotel rooms. The jury acquitted a man of manslaughter in the same case. Authorities say the convicted woman faces up to 10 years in prison. The case drew attention because Manzano had been in New Orleans specifically to cover the Super Bowl, and the verdict resolves the criminal trial phase against the woman charged in his death.
