Giants QB Jaxson Dart faces likely season‑ending knee injury

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a left knee injury in Monday night's loss to the Los Angeles Rams and an MRI revealed more extensive damage than first believed, NFL Network reporters Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport said. The team now expects Dart to be out for an extended period and could place him on season-ending injured reserve, with surgery and additional medical opinions determining whether he can return this season. Giants coach John Harbaugh said evaluations are ongoing and no final decisions have been made. Dart will miss the Giants' Week 6 home game against the New Orleans Saints, where Jameis Winston is expected to start. Dart and Saints rookie Tyler Shough were long compared after being drafted; the Giants traded up from pick No. 34 to No. 25 to select Dart while the Saints took Shough at No. 40, and the two quarterbacks have not yet faced each other in a game. The injury ends the immediate possibility of a Dart Shough duel and leaves the Giants leaning on Winston and depth options while they determine next steps.

Giants QB Jaxson Dart is getting additional medical opinions on his injured knee that will determine whether to have surgery, which in turn will determine whether he can return this season or not. For now, he’s out indefinitely, as ESPN reported. Jameis Winston takes over as QB1.
