A New York judge on Wednesday sentenced Harvey Weinstein to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting former production assistant Miriam Haley in 2006. The sentence follows an overturned conviction, two mistrials and a retrial that revived the nine-year courtroom saga that helped ignite the global MeToo movement. Judge Curtis Farber told Weinstein, "You had it all," saying Weinstein threw away his legacy by assaulting Haley. Haley said the assault had a "devastating effect on my life and sense of security that may never go away." Weinstein, 74, was seated in a wheelchair and was quickly moved out of the courtroom after sentencing. Weinstein maintains his innocence and is expected to appeal the New York conviction as he faces resentencing in California.
