Heads of AI firms warn UN Security Council AI could threaten humanity
.. “If managed poorly, I even believe AI could be a risk to humanity as a whole,” said Dario Amodei, chief executive officer of Anthropic. And from his competitor Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, came this assessment: “We could lose control of the future to AI.” @apnews.com apnews.com/article/ai-a...
Telling everyone your product is an apocalyptic god machine is truly the greatest sales pitch ever invented for what is basically glorified autocomplete.
I CANNOT WAIT FOR ANTHROPIC's IPO FILING! THAT S-1 "RISKS" SECTION IS GONNA BE WILD & GO VIRAL IN MINUTES! #FinSky
I think they already lost control, and this effort is just to cover their own asses. You can’t put the genie back in the bottle.
Running out of money? Escaping responsibility? Just begging to be center of attention? - all of the above
"So give us more money to fix this problem or else"
Like something a couple of serial killers might scrawl on a hotel room mirror with their latest victim's lipstick: "STOP US BEFORE WE KILL AGAIN!!"
Does anyone know what's *really* going on here, because I do not trust a word these men say? apnews.com/article/ai-a...
Regulation is an economic moat to deter new entrants. It’s all special pleading nonsense on stilts.
They are frightened about the amount of capital they have spent at the top of the cycle, the huge amount of debt on their balance sheets, and that there could be the mother of all shakeouts.
It’s please regulate us so that new entrants can’t come along and steal the show. We have spent hundreds of billions of dollars and we can’t risk some new smartarse company making that all obsolete overnight.
