Stop showing Vulcans being baffled/confused by emotions. That's not It. The only thing about emotions Vulcans find hard to understand is why Humans let them make almost all of their decisions for them. Vulcans aren't supposed to be comedic relief. The Joke of Vulcans is that HUMANS are ridiculous.

It makes them too relatable. The viewer doesn't have to adjust to their rhythms or their "logic." There is so much I love about that show. But I right there with you on this one.

This episode is showcasing some of the rarer species we've seen in Star Trek. In particular, in a single scene we get a caitian who is definitely M'Ress (comms officer), and an Aurelian who might well be Aleek-Om (historian).
