Nneka Ogwumike retired after a 15-season WNBA career following the Los Angeles Sparks6-75 loss to the Golden State Valkyries. Ogwumike finished her final game with a double-double, posting 17 points and 15 rebounds, after a first half in which she had 12 points on 6-for-10 shooting, eight rebounds, two assists, and a steal. The Valkyries6-75 win clinched the No. 2 seed and left the Sparks with a 16-28 record. The Sparks announced they will name the player sanctuary at their new training facility the "Nneka Ogwumike Player Sanctuary," a decision Sparks president Stacy Johns confirmed and one that moved Ogwumike to tears during the announcement. Ogwumike delivered a goodbye speech that included, "I believe in what this league represents. Something that I always like to say is we cannot ignore the needs of the majority for the noise of the minority," while the team held a halftime commemoration honoring her career.
