September's Harvest Full Moon reached its fullest point at 17:49 BST on Saturday 26 September and rose across the UK shortly afterward, appearing almost completely full through Saturday evening. The Royal Observatory Greenwich notes this Moon is also called the Corn Moon and is the full Moon closest to the autumn equinox, which fell earlier that week. When it climbs from the horizon it may look yellow, orange or reddish because its light passes through more atmosphere, and forecast conditions looked clearest in southern and eastern parts of the UK for viewing. Media coverage and skywatchers also reported the Moon appearing in Aries and rising near Saturn in many skies, while other coverage highlighted the Moon lighting up North America that same weekend. If a later full Moon falls closer to the equinox, that Moon would take the Harvest title instead, so the name depends on proximity to the equinox.
