Rod Stewart announces farewell tour, to retire from touring

Sir Rod Stewart, 81, announced he will retire from touring and launch a farewell run called The Final Encore in 2027. The tour will run from April to July 2027, opening in Dublin on April 23 and concluding in Hannover on July 24, with stops announced in Manchester, London, Berlin, Prague and Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome. Stewart said in an emotional statement, "My dear friends, The time has come to say farewell to life on the road," and added The Final Encore will "most definitely be my last." The announcement follows a series of recent health problems that forced Stewart to pull out of dates on his One Last Time tour, including an acute upper respiratory infection, laryngitis, vocal strain and subsequent heart surgery. A spokesperson said doctors are pleased with his recovery, that he has returned to normal daily activities, and that on medical advice he will take four weeks to recuperate before returning to the stage, which led to cancellation of current tour dates.
