Broadcaster Amol Rajan said he “played the wrong game” after becoming the first participant to be murdered on the BBC series Celebrity Traitors. Rajan, 43, was targeted by traitors Richard E Grant and Maya Jama during Friday’s episode, while comedian James Acaster was recruited as the third traitor. Speaking on the spin-off show The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, Rajan said that with 20/20 hindsight he wished he had been chosen as a traitor and that having spent a day as a faithful would have helped him deceive others. Rajan said his background as a journalist who asks awkward questions led him to try to “shut up” to avoid early elimination. He criticised Richard E Grant’s mistake of accidentally revealing his traitor identity, saying contestants should try to fly under the radar for the first few days. Rajan called Acaster likely to be “brilliant” as a traitor. Celebrity Traitors continues on Thursday at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
