Jake Cronenworth hit a tiebreaking homer and Michael King pitched the last two innings on one day of rest as the San Diego Padres beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 in NLDS Game 3. King, who started Game 2 two days earlier, retired four of his first five batters in relief, earned his first save since 2023 and his first postseason save, and finished the game when Xander Bogaerts turned a game-ending double play on Christian Yelich's 107 mph line drive. Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado drove in early runs for the Padres, while William Contreras homered and finished with three hits for Milwaukee. The Brewers left 11 runners on base and suffered their 12th consecutive postseason road loss dating to the 2018 NLCS. Mason Miller was unavailable after being placed on the paternity list about 45 minutes before the first pitch. The Padres trimmed Milwaukee's series lead to 2-1; Game 4 is Wednesday night at Petco Park, with Game 5, if necessary, scheduled Friday in Milwaukee.
