HBO has given a series order to Crazy Rich Asians, greenlighting an eight-episode, one-hour original drama that continues the story from the 2018 film. Constance Wu and Henry Golding will reprise their roles as Rachel Chu and Nick Young, and Michelle Yeoh and Ronny Chieng are also confirmed to return. Adele Lim is attached to lead the show as showrunner and Jon M. Chu is listed as an executive producer. Coverage and studio posts say the series will pick up after the events of the blockbuster film and that the original creative team is largely reuniting for the project. An official teaser and set photos have been shared in connection with the announcement. HBO’s order converts the Crazy Rich Asians franchise into a TV sequel format with an initial eight-episode season and the original principal cast back on board.
