Brief glimpse at Metacritic suggests I’m in the minority with this one but ah well, it happens. I’m a big Castlevania fan (the original was one of the first NES games I got as a kid) and was very excited by this, but as amazing as it looks I felt I was going through the motions.

It’s OK everyone, Dracula 🧛‍♂️ is dead, Halloween is saved. Sadly what holds back #Castlevania is a pretty horribly coded 5th boss. Completely random sickle spawns, it’s just retry 50+ times & hope for good RNG while being perfect. Pretty fun & challenging until that boss but for most people…

the game ends there. It’s too bad because the game is pretty doable other than that. Even Dracula has patterns you can progressively get better at. Oh well childhood dream achieved, just wish it felt more earned. Hoping the other games have more thought put into boss fights 🙏 Hot take I guess.
