Final Fantasy Resonance review flags Xbox Series S image issues

gamingOct 23, 202636380

Final Fantasy Resonance launched this week, and Digital Foundry praised its 2D-HD visuals and strong performance while calling out image-quality problems on Xbox Series S. Players celebrating demo progress carrying over are calling the game a love letter to classic Final Fantasy, citing WOL, Cid, Ramuh, and Gilgamesh as standout nostalgic beats. Conversation has clustered around playful spoilers from vision reveals, a tutorial that jokes about elemental weaknesses, a player attempting Titan early, a fan-commissioned pixel combat idle animation by mae-moonlight, and a streamer joking that a mod 'fixed' the game.

Final Fantasy Resonance was a fun time, even if we never got past the demo's content. Thanks to everyone who tuned in and thanks to Square Enix for sponsoring the stream! We're back Friday with Pokemon Showdown, see ya then! www.twitch.tv/protonjon/cl...

Played FF Resonance for 15 hours. Game is so much fun and a wonderful love letter to Final Fantasy. Will say the story and characters havent been too particularly memorable but im only in chapter 4. Also, game is hilarious, laughed alot today. If you love FF, play it

Just started a new job. Once a paycheck comes in, it’s a contender for a celebratory frivolous expense.

Everything I'm seeing about final fantasy resonance is written by people who apparently haven't played a turn based game in 25 years

In honor of FF Resonance's release and playing it tonight, I commissioned @mae-moonlightvt.bsky.social for this wonderful FF Resonance style combat idle animation. She is amazing with the pixels and you should go check her out, watch her on twitch, and commission her too! vgen.co/mae_moonligh...

Happy FF Resonance Launch day! Please Equip WOL and enjoy his random spotlight. Though here, we are just humbling asking Cosmos for 1 more bar of signal strength.... (and then getting that strength to play more mobage)

It's great, but it is a story based game, it can wait for a sale/payday. Demo awaits if you need to be sold on it further.

Fabirucho1

Will you buy it? Is it worth it? My Halloween games this year are Dragons Dogma 1, Shin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne and Stardew Valley. I need to finish them. So my goal is to finish them til the end of the year 😄😄😄

Andy✌️1

I can’t wait for it to go on sale at an acceptable price in 2/3 years time!

Resonance is off to a good start, despite some jank UI and weak writing. Impressed with the first hour, combat seems cool, and it’s almost comically referential to the mainline FF games. Right up my alley.

Honestly I’d say the excellent voice acting makes up for the passable writing, at least so far.

Final Fantasy Resonance is real good, feels like a total love letter to the classic era of FF, looks beautiful, has a great soundtrack, fun combat. Most I've cared about a FF game in forever.

Can't tear myself away from Belmont's Curse, but that one's next on my list.

Jumped in quick to see if the demo save transferred and knew better to get into it.

me: it's wrong to say that a video game mod "fixes" a game because that implies objectivity to an inherently subjective artform also me: i literally fixed final fantasy resonance
